You can fax straight from your phone's browser. Scan the document with a tool you already have, upload it, enter the fax number and pay only for what you send.

To send a fax from a phone, you need an online fax service. It takes your file and transmits it to the recipient's fax number, and the recipient gets an ordinary fax. With AnytimeFax you do everything in your phone's browser: there is no app to install, no account and no subscription. You scan the paper document with a tool that is already on your phone, upload the file, enter the fax number, verify your email address with a one-time code and pay per fax.
Scan with what you already have
On Android, the Google Drive app can scan a document and save it as a PDF. On iPhone, the Notes app can scan documents, and the Files app has a Scan Documents option.
Check the file type before you upload
AnytimeFax accepts PDF, DOC and DOCX files. Before uploading, check that your saved scan is a PDF file, not a photo.
What you need
- A phone with a web browser and a way to scan the document (for example Google Drive on Android, or Notes or Files on iPhone).
- The document as a PDF, DOC or DOCX file — up to 10 MB in total and 20 pages per order (larger jobs can be quoted).
- The recipient's full fax number, including the area code.
- An email address where you can receive a one-time verification code.
- A payment card if your fax is longer than one page. Your first one-page fax is free (once per email address).
Step-by-step
Scan the document
On Android, open Google Drive, tap the camera (scan) button, take the photo of each page and save the scan as a PDF. On iPhone, open Notes or Files and use Scan Documents. Scan on a flat surface in good light so the text stays sharp.
Open Send a Fax in your browser
Go to AnytimeFax in Safari, Chrome or any mobile browser and open Send a Fax. Nothing needs to be installed.
Upload your file
Pick the PDF, DOC or DOCX file from your phone. If you upload several files, they are merged into one fax in the order you upload them, and the total page count sets the price.
Enter the fax number
Type the full number and compare it with the original source — the letter, the form instructions or the recipient's official website. A single wrong digit can make the fax fail.
Verify your email and pay
Enter the one-time code we send to your email address. Your first one-page fax is free (once per email address). After that: $4.99 for 2–4 pages, $5.99 for 5–10 pages and $7.99 for 11–20 pages. If you already used the free fax, a single page costs $4.99 (Standard) or $20 (Urgent).
Track the result
Save your order ID (it starts with AF-). On the Track Order page you can check the status and download your invoice.
Tips
- Scan every page, including the signature page, and check that small print is readable before you upload.
- If the recipient asked for a cover sheet or a reference number on the first page, scan that page first.
- Keep the original paper and your order ID until the recipient confirms they have your document.
- If the recipient needs to send something back, ask for an email address or an upload option. AnytimeFax sends faxes only; receiving faxes is in beta with a waitlist.
Common mistakes
- Uploading a photo taken at an angle or in poor light, which can become unreadable as a black-and-white fax.
- Trying to upload an image file instead of a PDF, DOC or DOCX.
- Missing a page because each page wasn't added to the same scan.
- Typing the fax number from memory instead of copying it from the official source.
Delivery expectations
Standard, Extended and Large orders are delivered within 24 hours, and the free one-page option can take up to 3 days. Urgent orders ($20, up to 20 pages) are processed within 90 minutes of payment confirmation. A successful delivery confirms that the fax was transmitted to the recipient's fax number; it does not confirm that someone has reviewed or accepted your document.
Alternatives
- Sending from a computer with the same steps, if the file is already there.
- A print or copy shop that offers faxing at the counter.
- An online upload portal or email address, when the recipient offers one.
